A trigger is a flat image that can be recognised and tracked in 3D by the app. The app tracks the marker by knowing the ‘features’ on the trigger (areas which dont resemble any other parts of the trigger) and looking for them in the camera image.  Because of this a trigger needs to have the following qualities:

  • Unique among other triggers (so it can be associated with it’s content)
  • Multiple unique features (so that areas of the trigger can be tracked individually)
  • Good contrast and size of features (so that it can be tracked at different distances and in different lighting).

To help you pick good triggers and deliver the best experience to your users, we check any triggers you upload to make sure they have enough features to track, and to make sure they are unique. This stops the wrong content being loaded when the trigger is scanned.
