Show/hide buttons can be useful if you want the user to access a lot of content in a scene, but don’t want it all visible at once.
They are also handy if you want the user to control when they start playing a video or 3D animation (the animations won’t play until the user ‘shows’ the hidden object).
This can be used to create items like balloons that popped when touched, or puzzles that gradually reveal information (think Minesweeper!).
In some cases, you might want to consider using a ‘scene link’ rather than a show/hide button, as sometimes turning items on and off can result in overlapping content. In those cases a button with a scene link will work better (see the button object article).
