What is a Image Anchor?

A trigger is an image that makes your AR scene appear.

A image anchor is a flat image that can be recognised and tracked in 3D. The AR camera tracks the image by knowing the ‘features’ on the image and looking for them in the camera image.  Because of this a image anchor needs to have the following qualities:

  • Unique among other images (so it can be associated with it’s content)

  • Multiple unique features (so that areas of the image can be tracked individually)

  • Good contrast and size of features (so that it can be tracked at different distances and in different lighting).

To help you pick good image anchors and deliver the best experience to your users, we check any images you upload to make sure they have enough features to track, and to make sure they are unique. This stops the wrong content being loaded when the trigger is scanned.
